Last year, the America's Second Harvest Network provided food assistance to more than 23 million low-income hungry people in the United States, including more than nine million children and nearly three million seniors.

How are the "lost pounds" reported, calculated, and tracked? Each Pound for a Pound member is given a personal database accessed by username and password. Each week, we recommend that our members report weekly weight loss totals. Every Monday, Pound for a Pound checks our administrative site and calculates all the pound that have been lost for "America's Most Desperate Children" and we send $1 per pound lost. America's Second Harvest has an incredible infrastructure allowing us to feed multiple people with only $1. One pound lost or $1 is translated to four bags of groceries or 16 meals.
How do I choose which feeding project? It's hard to choose just one. Pound for a Pound offers you the chance to choose more than one feeding project. You can choose up to two projects and your weight loss is evenly divided between the two. Your personal database keeps track of how many children you've been able to feed and where?
What detailed reporting is available to substantiate claims of donations based on customer weight loss results? Currently, we send a check to America's Second Harvest each Monday. We open the books to our members several times a year documenting the amount of people fed and the amount of pounds lost.
Second Harvest's network includes more than 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations, serving every county in the U.S. The effectiveness and operating efficiency of this network depends on the cooperation of food banks, food-rescue organizations, service agencies, donors, and national programs.
Food banks serve people in need by securing and storing surplus food and distributing it through their own network of local service agencies. Food-rescue organizations often operate within a shorter time-frame, picking up and delivering perishable foods on a single run. A number of America's Second Harvest affiliates secure and distribute food in their local community through both of these methods.
We rely on private and foundation support to fund our hunger-relief efforts nationwide. There are many opportunities to become involved in the life of our network of more than 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations.
We understand that many individuals are rightfully concerned about how non-profit organizations use contributions.
We are are proud of our Forbes charitable commitment rating. A full 98% of all product and money donations we receive go directly toward feeding hungry people rather than administration or fundraising.
